1. Who we are

Afterrealism is an Australian geospatial software consultancy based in Canberra, ACT. This policy describes how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information through afterrealism.com and api.afterrealism.com.

2. Information we collect

• Contact enquiries: when you submit our contact form we collect your name, email address, organisation, project type, budget range and the message you write.
• Newsletter subscription: your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter.
• Usage analytics: via PostHog we collect page views, interactions, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device information. Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers stored in your browser.
• Server logs: our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically records standard request data such as IP address, user agent and timestamps.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect payment card details on this website.

3. How we use your information

• To respond to your enquiry and communicate about a potential or active engagement.
• To send you our newsletter, from which you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.
• To understand how the site is used and improve its content, performance and reliability.
• To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Disclosure of your information

We disclose personal information only to the service providers that operate the features you use, and only by transmitting it to them over encrypted (HTTPS) connections at the moment you interact with those features:

• PostHog (United States): receives usage analytics data when you browse the site.
• Cloudflare (global network): hosts and delivers the website and processes request logs.
• Email delivery providers: receive your name, email address and message content when you submit the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter, so we can deliver correspondence to and from you.

Because some providers are located overseas, your information may be disclosed to recipients outside Australia. We do not otherwise disclose personal information to third parties except where required by law.

5. Security practices

We safeguard personal information with measures including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all pages and form submissions.
• Infrastructure hosted on Cloudflare with network-level protection and access restricted to authorised personnel.
• Least-privilege access: only people who need the information to respond to you can access it.
• Retention limited to what is needed for the purpose collected; newsletter data is deleted when you unsubscribe.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

6. Your choices

You may unsubscribe from the newsletter via the link in any email, request access to or correction of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at the address below. You can also block analytics cookies through your browser settings without affecting access to the site.
